Throughout our 5 years* of printing professional images for some of Montreal's top studios and photographers, we have printed on, and tested, virtually all brands of photo paper, including: Kodak, Fujifilm, Konica (now DNP), Kodak, Agfa, and even Lucky and have come to the following conclusion:
The best results we have ever obtained is on PROFESSIONAL Fujifilm photo papers. THIS IS NOT THE SAME STUFF THAT YOU WOULD FIND AT those "super-cost-mart" type stores (they use TYPE II, which is CONSUMER grade paper). We use FUJIFILM type PD, type C, and Fujicolor PEARL (Metallic) papers.
According to Fujifilm:
"Super Type PD represents the latest application of Fujifilm's advanced thin-layer coating manufacturing technology. Super Type PD paper offers excellent and natural skin tone gradation, billiant whites and improved dmax and hightlight details. Super Type PD paper is available in Lustre surface predominantly and also includes the Professional copyright back printing"
"Super Type C Photo Paper represents the latest application of Fujifilm's advanced thin-layer coating manufacturing technology, improving on the renowned Crystal Archive Paper technologies, print output results in more vivid color reproduction, more billiant whites, plus improved highlight detail. The result is a sharper more crisp appearance for exhibition, advertising and other commercial photo applications."
"Fujicolor Digital pearl is a silver halide color paper designed exclusively for digital output with a PEARL-like appearance and thicker paper ase. When used in conjunction with medium or large format digital printer systems, this paper yields a high image quality with a glossy surface. Fuji PEARL offers vibrant colour reproductions, high Dmax and purer whites. Fuji PEARL is ideal for commerical printing such as wedding, fashion and portrait."
We know you'll appreciate the results you will obtain on these papers. Most of our current "KODAK" customers have already switched with us to the professional Fujifilm paper. We would be more than happy to make a couple of test prints for your evaluation.
